HEALTH AND LIFESTYLE FESTIVAL
Our festival takes place outside in an open grass area so please be sure to dress warmly and if the grass is damp, you may want to bring extra socks or even an additional pair of shoes. The festival is being held at Swiss Park: 2001 Main St. Chula Vista, CA 91911. See above for festival hours.
We are hosting rides for our participants to enjoy while raising money for the community. We do not track times. This is not a race. If you are training and challenging yourself to improve your time, we suggest that you track your performance independently using the tools you’re used to using.
DIRECTIONS TO RACE
Our festival start and finish lines all take place at Swiss Park. 2001 Main St. Chula Vista, CA 91911. From any direction that you are traveling, simply exit Main St., Chula Vista off of the 5 Freeway and you’ll see Swiss Park just west of the 5 next to the entrance of the Bayshore Bikeway.
CARPOOL TO THE RIDE
Consider reducing our carbon footprint and carpool to the event! Ask others to rideshare with you or use our Facebook page to find other riders to share a ride with.
UBER & LYFT
If you are planning to order a Lyft or an Uber, please remember to order a size vehicle that can carry your bicycle. They should be able to drop you off right inside of the parking lot of Swiss Park.
EVENT DAY PARKING
There is a parking lot available at Swiss Park, but if it seems full or if you’d just like to avoid the cluster, park on W. Frontage Rd.
When traveling on roads please follow all traffic laws. Bicycles are subject to all the rules and regulations of the CA Vehicle Code. Obey all traffic laws, traffic signals and signs. You may ride two abreast when it is safe to do so.Wear your helmet at all times when on your bike. Never wear headphones. Keep at least one hand on the handlebars at all times. The success of the event depends on each and every one of us behaving responsibly and taking care of ourselves and each other.
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE & FIRST AID
We will have nurses at the festival provided by Sharp Chula Vista. Safety is a core value of The Recovery Ride. Before riding out in the morning we will review routes with you, read our safety speech and ensure that you know who will be available for your needs if they should come up.
This is a super fun, awesome recovery ride… we do not have time limits on these rides. We do however want to make sure that our volunteers get home to their families, so the rest stops will close at the times specified on your route maps. There are sweep riders on each route and leads at each rests stop to ensure that the flow of riders is continuing to move at a fun pace.
We use 10-ish minute wave increments to release riders and to avoid clustering or bottle necking and injuries. First will be the Olympian Riders, then the Strand Riders and last – but not least – the Fun Riders.
We’re stoked to have 2Wheels Boutique as our bike tech supporters. They will be hosting a booth at the festival where you’ll be able to get some help with your gear the morning of the ride. Be sure to check your tire pressure before riding out, that your shoes are tied and that your helmet is strapped on tightly. We will have ride marshals on all routes who can assist you if you get a flat or need assistance while out of the festival.
We will not have lockers or anywhere for you to store your belongings at the festival. If you’re not keeping it with you or on you while riding, we suggest leaving it in your car or at home. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items left at the festival.
FUEL FOR YOUR BODY
Before and during the ride: remember to stay fueled and hydrated. We’ll have lots to snack on and to fill you up, don’t worry! When returning from your ride we will have hot breakfast burritos available and lots of other yummy treats to help you refuel and rehydrate.
RETURNING FROM YOUR RIDE
When returning to Swiss Park, please be mindful of your speed. Our number one goal is safety and we have many volunteers in place to cheer you on while returning to the festival. If you need help getting off of your bike or balancing yourself after your long ride, please ask any of our volunteers for some assistance. If you need to sit down and catch your breath, we will have seating inside of the festival.
DISCARD GEAR or COURSE TRASH
We are cycling throughout the San Diego community and want to ensure that we are enhancing and respecting the community around us. Please look for trash cans when discarding any broken gear or trash.
THANK YOUR VOLUNTEERS
It takes countless hours of hard work and dedication and support of hundreds to make this event happen. Volunteers will be at every turn while setting up, riding and tearing down. Please acknowledge them when you can.
