Recovery Ride 2018 Video

get your heart in gear

The Recovery Ride aims to connect our love of cycling with our commitment to recovery of any kind.  Whether a casual or recreational cyclist, or training for something more serious, our three route lengths (12/25/40+ mile) will satisfy one and all.

THE FUN RIDE (12 MI Route)

For the more casual riders among us ... a fun ride along mostly protected bike paths with volunteers along the way; lots to see and celebrate.

THE STRAND RIDE (25 mi ROUTE)

A little further, this route also starts at Swiss Village and winds further up the Strand along bike paths with a quick stop at the beach for selfies. YOU CAN DO IT - NO RIDER LEFT "STRAND-ED"!

THE OLYMPIAN RIDE (40+ MI ROUTE)

Not for the faint at heart ... but definitely for those training for other rides, or wanting a challenge, this route - with inland and coastal sprints - will definitely "get your heart in gear!"

If you can't or don't want to ride, join us as a virtual cyclist or volunteer!

Our beneficiaries in 2018 were Stepping Stone of San Diego and the San Diego HIV Funding Collaborative.

Stepping Stone of San Diego

Stepping Stone of San Diego provides a long-term residential recovery program, aftercare services, and support services for those affected by HIV. By design, no one is turned away for lack of funds at Stepping Stone. Their services mend lives and give clients the tools to break free from the grip of addiction.

Thanks to Stepping Stone, people are given new positive direction and their lives back. Broken souls are healed and families are reunited. Stepping Stone’s important work turns alcoholics and addicts into miracles.

If you or someone you know needs their help, please contact them at steppingstonesd.org.

ROUTES

San Diego Bay is so beautiful to ride around!

The Recovery Ride has three route lengths:

  • 12 mile "fun ride." This is a great recreational ride along protected bike paths with volunteers along the way; lots to see and celebrate. Plus, we'll make a stop at Babycakes in IB for some fun and maybe a cupcake. {route map}

  • 25 mile "strand ride." This route is a little further, winding its way up the strand and back along bike paths with a quick stop at the beach for #selfies. And, of course, we'll stop at Babycakes for the party. {route map}

  • 40 mile "olympian ride." Not for the faint at heart, this ride will definitely "get your heart in gear." We'll wave to Babycakes and then head along coastal and inland sprints for a great workout with a wee bit of climbing. {route map}

All routes start and finish at Swiss Park in South Bay at our festival and celebration. Register today and join us January 20, 2019, for a ride to remember.

Swiss Park

Swiss Park

Our start/finish lines and festival will take place at The Swiss Park, located at 2001 Main Street in Chula Vista, right at the bottom edge of San Diego Bay. Our friends Tony and Larry have generously offered the use of the facility, and we are so grateful!

Directions from downtown San Diego:

Take I-5 South for about 10 minutes, exit at "Main Street" (Chula Vista Exit), turn right, and the festival will be immediately on your left.
